English through Drama is to develop English language skills through theories of drama, introducing learners to various plays, TV dramas, improvisation, speech intonation, reading and editing of written play scripts, and learning to dramatize plays. Students will also learn how to use and practice dialogue, and work towards a performance at the end of the semester. During the first half, the students will learn about blocking movements, and producing and performing their own work, such as readings, audios, and a quiz from one of the books they will read will also be given.
A Puzzle for Logan & University Murders by Richard MacAndrew will be part of the material. University Murders will be used for the performance-based exam, and the quiz will be taken from A Puzzle for Logan, as well as being used in class for readings, role-play, and character practice. The two books are connected and focus on the main character inspector Logan, a strong female role who solves murders and other criminal offenses.
